St George is portrayed half-length in military attire against a gold background. He holds a spear diagonally in his right hand and a sword in its scabbard in his left. His shield, which almost conceals his left arm, is decorated with a stylized Medusa head. The saint's breastplate is decorated with intersecting blue bands and with chrysography in short parallel gold lines. His bright red mantle rests on his right shoulder and is tied in a knot in front of his left shoulder. St George’s expressive and youthful face is of oval shape and surrounded by a punched halo. The style of painting points towards a workshop in Northern Greece or Macedonia and a dating in the late 16th century.
